David Chew

Since joining in April 2022, David has played a key role in expanding Academy Bank’s SBA lending presence across its core markets, including Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, and Arkansas. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, he specializes in SBA 7a, SBA Express, and SBA 504 loans, as well as commercial and industrial lending, and commercial real estate lending.

With more than 8 years of experience in banking, David has built his career by focusing on relationship banking, helping small and medium-sized business owners maximize their banking relationships. His expertise spans various lending products, including SBA, commercial term loans, lines of credit, guidance lines of credit, and commercial real estate financing. Prior to his current role, he held positions in SBA credit analysis, underwriting, and lending.

In recognition of his efforts, Academy Bank was nominated as the Emerging SBA Lender in 2023 by B:Side Capital. David is also actively involved in the industry, serving on the NAGGL (National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders) Region VII Committee, and Small Lender Committee, and the B:Side Fund Approval Committee for B:Side Capital.

David earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Missouri Western State University, where he also played collegiate baseball and served as a Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors and lives in Parkville, MO, with his wife, Kenzie, and their three dogs.
